Our work ranges from contemporary cameos and portrait engravings to three-dimensional sculptures. Unique pieces of jewellery and entire collections round off the exposé.
Each gemstone we work with at PAULY - THE ART OF CARVING is never randomly selected for its quality and colour. In every work we try to let the characteristics and peculiarities of the stone merge with the dynamics of the design.
Through our company headquarters in Idar-Oberstein, the global capital of gemstone processing, we have access to the highest quality materials worldwide.
That is our claim – only nature sets the limits.
Artist
Hans-Ulrich Pauly captures the Spirit of the Earth’s creations in his gem art. In dialogue with the materials of the earth, he describes his gemstone carving as his expression of this world.
Broad in scope, his art ranges from contemporary cameos and portrait carvings to three-dimensional sculptures that are captivatingly alive in their exacting detail. His latest creations include the Wildlife Series, an abstraction of the patterns found in nature, and Visionary Gem Art, a series of larger gem sculptures that feature intaglio carving and the use of innovative optics.
